Dwarf Tossing examines modern day hypocrisy and asks the question, "Whose body is it anyway?" This black comedy looks at political incorrectness, sexual politics, show business and the damage such madness can inflict when unleashed on unsuspecting little people.
The story follows Derek, an out of work dwarf who, after 12 tours with Snow White and the Seven Dwarves on Ice, is looking for something less humiliating. His agent suggests the hit European sport, dwarf tossing. After some resistance, Derek finds himself on a plane to Australia where his new partner, Pierre will meet him at the airport. Pierre, a self-described “BOB" (big old bottom), is immediately enamored with Derek. Their relationship and professional career develop as this episodic comedy unfolds.
Bootstraps Artistic Director, Matt Lyle directs and the cast includes Bootstraps favorite, Jeremy Whiteker, who audiences loved as an odd Oedipus in Tab A, Slot B: a new-age sexiology; Clay Cross local producer and actor and Kim Lyle, wife of the director (but that didn't get her the job.) **DUE TO INJURY, MATT LYLE ASSUMED THE ROLL OF DEREK ON JULY 16, 2005**
A three-ring circus is the concept of the colorful set designed by Kent Barrett and costume designer, Joyous Israel also uses color to set Derek apart from the crazy world in which he finds himself.
